The Symbolism of the Frog

In various Northwest Coast Indigenous traditions, the frog is associated with transformation, renewal, adaptability, and the connection between land and water. Its remarkable life cycle, beginning as a tadpole before becoming an adult frog, makes it a natural symbol of growth and change.

Native Northwest also associates Corey W. Moraes's Ribit design with the idea of potential, a fitting reminder that even small beginnings can lead to remarkable transformations. Symbolic meanings vary among Indigenous cultures and individual artworks.

Why We Chose It for Millstream

At Millstream, we have a soft spot for the often-overlooked creatures that make the Pacific Northwest so wonderfully wild. From the moss-covered forests of Bainbridge Island to the wetlands and woodlands of the Olympic Peninsula, frogs are an important part of our region's ecosystems.

We selected the Ribit Frog Magnet for its playful personality, meaningful connection to nature, and the opportunity to celebrate the work of Tsimshian artist Corey W. Moraes.
