Created by Jason Adair, an Ojibway Indigenous artist, this collectible wooden magnet features his distinctive Turtle design, brought to life through Native Northwest's dimensional, die-cut craftsmanship. Its layered appearance adds depth and personality, turning an everyday refrigerator magnet into a small piece of art.

Measuring approximately 3–4 inches, this unique magnet makes a thoughtful gift for turtle lovers, wildlife enthusiasts, and anyone who appreciates Indigenous art and nature-inspired keepsakes.

The Symbolism of the Turtle

In many Anishinaabe (including Ojibway) traditions, the turtle holds deep cultural significance and is associated with Mother Earth, creation, longevity, wisdom, and the interconnectedness of life.

The turtle plays an important role in the concept of Turtle Island, a name for North America rooted in creation stories shared by several Indigenous Nations. Its protective shell and steady nature can also evoke patience, resilience, and the importance of living in harmony with the natural world.

These associations provide broader cultural context; the specific meaning of Jason Adair's Turtle design may reflect his own artistic interpretation.

Why We Chose It for Millstream

At Millstream, we believe even the smallest creatures have extraordinary stories to tell. From the freshwater ponds of Bainbridge Island to the wetlands and waterways of the Olympic Peninsula, turtles remind us of the incredible biodiversity found throughout the Pacific Northwest.

We selected this Turtle Magnet for its beautiful Ojibway artwork, connection to nature, and meaningful symbolism. It also reflects our commitment to featuring Indigenous-designed products that celebrate the artistic traditions and cultural perspectives of their creators.
