Hōnaunau Octopus — Jeff Thompson Studio (Blue Lagoon Variant)
Named for the storied Kona coastline of Hawai‘i Island, Hōnaunau is Jeff Thompson’s glass interpretation of a shoreline where history, volcanic land, and luminous water meet. The sculpture feels buoyant and alive, its tentacles lifting and curling like a current caught mid-surge, the body swelling with saturated color that reads like ocean depth captured in a single breath.
Rendered in a striking blend of cobalt blue and tropical turquoise, with tentacles tipped in chartreuse-lime, this octopus evokes the clarity of Hawaiian water over lava rock; bright, pure, and intensely dimensional. The glass amplifies that sense of place: light moves through the form like sunlight through tide pools, making the octopus appear illuminated from within.
