The Symbolism of the Hummingbird

Hummingbirds are often admired for their energy, agility, and remarkable resilience. Despite their tiny size, these extraordinary birds travel impressive distances and bring a wonderful sense of movement and life to the gardens they visit.

In various Indigenous artistic and storytelling traditions, hummingbirds can carry associations with joy, beauty, love, and the natural world. Their cultural significance varies among Nations and individual artists.

Nicole La Rock's Hummingbirds design offers a beautiful opportunity to appreciate contemporary Coast Salish artwork while celebrating a creature that inspires delight wherever it appears.
